On 27th May 2021 His Excellency, Penpa Tsering became the democratically elected President/Sikyong of the Central Tibetan Administration. After the Chinese occupation of Tibet in 1959, the Tibetan government in exile was established in Dharamshala, India. A Sikyong plays a pivotal role as the political and administrative head of the Tibetan administration in exile.
